In this class students will learn how to manipulate various types of textile paints on silk and cotton fabric to create effects that can be incorporated into their quilts or embroideries.  Silk paints will be used in conjunction with gutta resist, dilutant, salt and other resist items to create landscape elements, and textural backgrounds. Opaque and transparent textile paints will also be explored with brushes, rags and sponges to create varying densities of colour, textures and patterns creating yet more backgrounds for your quilts and embroideries.  By the end of day two, students will have created a booklet of painted samples that they can use for future reference in creating painted backgrounds for hand and machine embroidery and quilting.
